Indian bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has posted a tweet which has tensed his fans. The tweet goes like this, ‘Bad day back home, I leave town and things have gone wrong. Praying.’ While the tweet continues to make fans worried, it has been learnt by Sportstar that one of Ashwin’s relatives is unwell – This stands as the reason behind his tweet.

This is what he tweeted and deleted

Bad day back home, I leave town and things have gone wrong. Praying

Ravichandran Ashwin has been on rest ever since India played its last Test match against Sri Lanka early December. Talks have been going round on if his importance as a major bowler in the team has gone down with the rise of spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. The duo has been performing well consistently in the shorter formats of the game.

This has eventually led to the questioning of Ashwin’s ODI and T20 comebacks, even while he stands as the fulcrum of India’s test bowling. He will return to the South Africa tour starting from 5th January.

Will Ashwin get into the XI in SA?

In 2010, when Ashwin played at home against New Zealand towards the end of that year, he ended up as the highest wicket-taker. Ashwin impressed everyone with his bowling. But he failed to get into the team in any of the five ODIs against South Africa, as Harbhajan Singh, the veteran of the Indian team was taken in. During India’s tour of South Africa in 2013, Ashwin did not turn out to be impressive. He did not pick up a single wicket in the first Test and was dropped from the squad.

The team composition will definitely be a debatable topic this time. A sixth batsman has always been preferred in overseas conditions and India will be expected to follow this. Ashwin will be an easy choice being an all-rounder, but this will eventually mean Jadeja’s exclusion, as South African tracks won’t be spin friendly. It will be interesting to see what combination Kohli puts up against a tough opponent.
