Team India is having a rough day against England in the ongoing third Test match in Leeds. But, what surprised fans the most was Ravi Ashwin’s left-handed batting in the nets. He posted two pictures of left-handed batting and left fans confused. Those who follow Ashwin very closely know that he loves to experiment with his bowling by adding several variations. He also tried to bowl leg-spin once.
But in batting, he has not tried many of those and that’s why it was odd to see him batting left-handed. Ashwin shared few pictures on his official Twitter account, in which he can be seen driving the ball straight. In another picture, he is content with leaving the ball alone. The off-spinner also gave a fitting caption to the post saying, ‘ignite something different.’
Clearly, the post and caption put out by Ashwin indicate he wants to try something different. As soon as the post went viral, many fans jokingly wrote how Ashwin is directly competing with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja by batting left-handed. However, the pictures posted by Ashwin were mirrored images.
The desire to ignite something different every day never burns out. 🤜 🔥🔥🤩 pic.twitter.com/6U9s7LZpP6

Ravi Ashwin is yet to play a Test in the ongoing series against England
Surprisingly, Ashwin has not featured in three Tests so far in India’s five-match Test series against England. While some have left frustrated as to why he is not included, the others feel it’s due to Jadeja being better equipped with the bat in hand. Also, India skipper Virat Kohli has preferred to play 4-1 pace and spin combination, which has not allowed him to play as the second spinner. Of late, Ashwin has struggled to get consistent scores with the bat, and maybe that might have allowed management to look at Jadeja.
Barring some amount of turn for Jadeja in Leeds in the ongoing third Test, the other two venues Trent Bridge and Lord’s have not offered any help for Jadeja. With two more matches to go, it will be interesting to see if Kohli plays Ashwin. The off-spinner played some County cricket for Sussex and performed well in the limited game time that he got.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Ravi Ashwin’s tweet
