Ravi Shastri differentiates Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni's styles of captaincy
Dhoni and Virat are two of the most successful captains in the history of Indian cricket.
The former Indian captain MS Dhoni is considered as one of the most successful captains to have ever led the Indian cricket team. He is the only skipper to have won all the three ICC trophies; 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. Along with that, MS had also guided the national side to the No. 1 spot in ICC (International Cricket Council) Test rankings.
The current Indian skipper Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is also doing a decent job while captaining the national side. Though Kohli is yet to get hold of an ICC Trophy, he led India to their maiden victory in a One-day International series in South Africa and Australia. Virat has also registered himself as the only Asian captain to have won a Test series on an Australia tour.
Both Virat and Dhoni are of opposite nature. MS is seen as someone who is cool and keeps his composure even in the pressure situations when on the cricket field. He hardly expresses his emotions while on the other hand, Kohli likes to show himself on the pitch. He is an aggressive leader who believes in giving back to his opponents and is known for bringing ruthlessness in the side.
Ravi Shastri on Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni
Recently, the Indian cricket team head coach Ravi Shastri opined on the captaincy of the two cricketers. Speaking to Times Now, the former Indian cricketer hailed both the captains as successful and drew differences in their nature and approach. “One is calm and composed, other is in your face. Dhoni is calm, Virat is naturally aggressive. Both are very successful,” told Shastri.
At present, both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are playing in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
While Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is at the verge of getting qualified and is sitting at the second position in the points table with 14 points in 12 fixtures, MS-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) failed to qualify for the first time in their 10-year run at the T20 extravaganza.
