Ravi Shastri to earn big as the Indian head coach
Former head coach Anil Kumble was paid 6.5 crores per annum for the same job.
Recently BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee named former all-rounder Ravi Shastri as the new head coach of India. As per the latest reports, BCCI has decided to pay a lavishing amount of salary to the former team director. The BCCI has decided to pay Shastri Rs 8 crores per annum.
Former head coach Anil Kumble was paid 6.5 crores per annum for the same job. The leg-spinner resigned from the post of head coach of team India, after a verbal spat with current skipper Virat Kohli. If reports are to be believed, it seems like Kumble demanded a higher salary and now the same increased salary is what Shastri will get.
Ravi Shastri’s support staff
Yesterday, the Committee of Administrators (COA) chief Vinod Rai announced the appointment of the supporting staff of the team. The committee named Bharat Arun as the full-time bowling coach, Sanjay Bangar as the assistant coach and R Sridhar as the fielding coach. It is reported that trio will receive Rs 2.3 crores per annum each for their invaluable services. This amount was, however, after foregoing their IPL contracts.
It is to be noted that these three members were Shastri’s first choice as supporting staff. BCCI, however, kept his requirement in mind and took the decision of appointment wisely. Ravi Shastri is quite familiar with the team as he has been with them previously in capacity of the team director for 18 months.
Shastri on the role of Rahul and Zaheer
Earlier BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) had also named fast bowler Zaheer Khan and batsman Rahul Dravid as bowling and batting consultants respectively. Speaking about the two’s role Shastri said, “I have spoken to both Zaheer and Dravid, and they are two fantastic cricketers of India and their inputs will be invaluable.”
“They will be on board, once they have spoken to the authorities concerned. It depends on how many days they would be willing to give, but their inputs will be invaluable,” said Shastri.
