Ravi Shastri hails Rohit's herculean double ton as 'Paisa Vasool'
Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 208 that came off just 153 balls.
Team India head coach looked mighty pleased with the effort of the Indian team in the Mohali ODI. After the drubbing they faced at Dharamsala, this came as a much needed win to get the spirits high yet again. Moreover, the series now stands leveled with one more game to play. For now, the moment belongs to Rohit Sharma – the stand in Indian skipper who scripted India’s mammoth win in the match.
The ‘hitman’, as he is fondly known, entered the record books yet again. He scored his third double century in the ODI cricket. This is an interesting stat since no other player has even two in the format in international matches. Much like every other Indian fan, even Ravi Shastri looked ‘thrilled to bits’ when slam bang cricket was going on in the final overs of the Indian innings.
Rohit was clobbering the opposition bowlers at will. Perhaps this was the reason why the Indian coach felt like giving a new middle name to Rohit. He took to micro blogging site Twitter and hailed the herculean knock played by the Indian captain as a ‘paisa vasool’ knock. This translates to a knock ‘worth the money spent’.
In his tweet, Ravi Shastri wrote, “Stunning innings. It was Rohit Paisa Vasool Shaaaaarma all the way. Way to go boy @ImRo45 #TeamIndia #INDvSL #RohitSharma.”
The big knock
Talking about the big knock, Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 208 that came off just 153 balls. His knock was embellished with 13 boundaries and 12 mammoth sixes. The monumental effort was the second ever double ton in ODI by a captain. Speaking about the records, Rohit had previously scored 209 against Australia at Bengaluru. And he had scripted the record books against the same Sri Lankan team when he had hit a record 264 at Eden Gardens three years ago.
