Back in 2017, Anil Kumble, the then head coach of Team India, had a massive fallout with Virat Kohli, the skipper of the national team. It was after India lost their Champions Trophy Final at the hands of Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Pakistan at the Kennington Oval in London. After a few days, Kumble gave his resignation and Ravi Shastri was appointed as the head coach of the Indian team.

Kumble served only for a solitary year where he didn’t flatter to deceive by any stretch of the imagination. Shastri has been with Team India ever since and a few months ago, he also got his contract renewed. He will now be there until the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup in India. The coaching staff underwent a few changes, but Shastri managed to hold on to his spot.

Ravi Shastri trolled yet another time

Shastri edged out the likes of Tom Moody and Mike Hesson in the race to become the coach. Both in 2017 and 2019, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) appointed him as the head coach. Under Shastri, India have won a number of bilateral series, but haven’t been able to get a hand on an ICC trophy. Amidst his stints, Shastri has been a recipient of brutal trolling and back-lashing.

Once, the veteran was seen coming down of the team bus with a beer bottle in hand. Subsequently, the netizens criticised him. Even after he became the coach and after Sourav Ganguly became the president of the BCCI, Shastri was lambasted. There have also been frequent claims of sacking him from the head coach’s position.

Of late, Shastri, also a former Indian cricketer, posted a picture with Kumble and Vikram Rathour, the newly-appointed batting coach of India. He captioned the picture and wrote, “Great to catch up with one of India’s greatest – @anilkumble1074.” Rathour replaced Sanjay Bangar, whose tenure didn’t get extended after India’s 2019 World Cup semi-final exit.

Here is Ravi Shastri’s post

It’s in almost every post where Twitterati lashes out at Shastri. And it wasn’t any different in Shastri’s latest post as well.

Here is how Twitter reacted
