Ravi Shastri to make a massive revelation ahead of the Nottingham Test

The Indian team has played some lacklustre cricket in the first two Test matches at Edgbaston and Lord’s respectively and subsequently, are 0-2 down in the series. Ahead of the third Test at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, starting on August 18, a number of changes in the lineup are speculated. One of them is roping in Delhi-born Rishabh Pant in place of the 33-year-old Dinesh Karthik.

Karthik has been awful, both with the willow and the wicketkeeping gloves. He has scored only 21 runs in the two matches and has looked out of sorts behind the wickets as well. His technique against the fast-bowlers under seaming conditions has been found wanting. Hence, the chances of Pant, who got his maiden Test call-up in this series, playing the next match can’t completely be ruled out.

What are the chances?

In the meantime, Ravi Shastri, the head coach of the national team updated about the chances of Pant making his debut in red-ball cricket in the next match. “About Rishabh, you will know 11 am day after,” Shastri was quoted as saying in Hindustan Times.

Pant hogged the headlines when he demolished bowling attacks, playing for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League. He turned out to be amongst the leading run-scorers of the tournaments. Moreover, he also notched the runs in double quick time. He was thereafter drafted into the India ‘A’ team for their tour of England last month.

He scored a couple of half-centuries in the triangular series, involving Windies ‘A’ and England Lions. He also found a place in the squad for the four-day matches. The southpaw didn’t flounder and scored three fifties in the two matches against the Lions and Windies ‘A’. The knocks didn’t evade the eyes of the nationals selectors and he was blessed with a national call-up.
