These two were known to have a special relationship. The one was like an elder brother. He first appeared on the larger picture playing for his IPL team and has been scaling unbelievable heights since then. The relation we are talking about here is that of former Indian captain MS Dhoni and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ashwin first found the spotlight while playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural season of the IPL. Dhoni instantly had a connect and the two put together some brilliant plans. In no times, the offie became his go-to bowler and he threw challenge after challenge at the Chennai boy and he excelled. At the next first opportunity to include a new spinner in the team, Dhoni had his CSK teammate wearing the Indian jersey.
On so many occasions in the IPL and for India they have devised specific plans, tricky ones against a particular batsman and have worked out ways to dismiss the toughest opposition players. It was as if Ashwin knew what Dhoni wanted him to do and Dhoni trusted him with the same.
But in the last couple of years things seem to have changed a tad bit, there were signs when Dhoni first sat Ashwin out of a Test match in Australia and then under bowled him in the World T20 that, the skipper no longer felt the off-spinner could execute the plan like he had in his mind. That has in no way affected their performance while playing together and still share a same on-field bond.

Today, a day after the most successful Indian skipper MS Dhoni announced his decision to step down from the role he graced for almost a decade, Ashwin tweeted to congratulate him and laud him for the wonders he achieved while at the helm.
He wrote – “What an unbelievable ride it’s been #msdhoni ,u managed to pull through some stellar records as a leader.Wield the willow wild now”

Now what that also does is kills the murmurs of there being unrest in their friendship and will definitely reflect when they take field against England, Ashwin the bowler certainly needs MS Dhoni the keeper to be up for it all the time.
