Ravichandran Ashwin preparing for WI series with Jolly Rovers

Indian frontline spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has joined up with domestic side Jolly Rovers. The 29-year old is reportedly preparing for the upcoming West Indies tour with the Rovers. Ashwin has switched allegiance from India Cements to Chemplast, Ashwin has started training with Jolly Rovers Cricket Club teammates.
“Ashwin was waiting for the formalities to conclude before commencing his training with Jolly Rovers. It is nice to have him back in the side he started playing,” a source told TOI.
The same was attested when he was seen at the nets for close to three hours with Jolly Rovers coach M Jayakumar, working on different aspects of his bowling.
“The West Indies tour has four Tests and will be a long tour. Ashwin wanted to be in the best possible shape heading into that. Also, the Indian team is currently in Zimbabwe for the ODIs and T20s and Ashwin has been rested for that. So, it was important for him to have some good training under his belt,” added the source.

Ashwin is expected to train with the Jolly Rovers side in the coming weeks. “In the run-up to the season which starts next month, the entire Jolly Rovers squad will be in attendance and Ashwin too expressed his desire to be part of it,” mentioned the source.
The Indians will play a series comprising of four Test matches in the West Indies. The series is due to begin on the 21st of July with the first Test scheduled to be in Antigua. It is highly expected that the Indians give a good account of themselves in the upcoming tour.
