Ravichandran Ashwin is probably at the peak of his form with both bat and ball. The Indian off-spinner became the second fastest to claim 200 wickets in Test cricket.
‘The Telegraph, UK’ published the news of Ashwin’s achievement in the historic 500th Test match. However, the title doesn’t convey what they actually meant to, as the title read, “Ravi Chandran prepares to face England by becoming second-quickest bowler to reach 200 Test wickets.”
Cricket writer Anand Vasu spotted the error in the titleand he took to the microblogging site Twitter to share the mistake happened with ‘The Telegraph’. He also tagged the ace spinner in the tweet. “Dear @ashwinravi99 it appears you have competition. The Telegraph, UK certainly thinks so:,” wrote Anand Vasu.

Ashwin, who is active enough on social platforms was quick to respond to the tweet in a witty manner. “@anandvasu My dad Mr.Ravichandran always told me he wasn’t encouraged to play when he was a kid, so good too see that he has stepped up.”

Kane Williamson was Ashwin’s 200th victim as he has the habit of claiming the wicket of the best batsman from the opposition. Ashwin achieved the milestone in his 37th Test match, which is one behind Australia’s Clarrie Grimmett. However, he has now overtaken the likes of Dennis Lillee, Waqar Younis, Dale Steyn, and Shane Warne.
In the recently concluded Test series against West Indies, he scored 2 centuries and was awarded as the player of the series for his performances with both bat and ball. He is continuing the similar form in the ongoing Test series against England. Ashwin’s 10-for in the first of the 3-match Test series against New Zealand helped India win the first match.
