It’s pretty difficult to keep someone like Ravichandran Ashwin away from the limelight and all the action. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner may not be in the scheme of things in white-ball cricket as far as the Indian team is concerned. But he is constantly hogging the limelight.

Ashwin travelled to England to take part in County Championship for Nottinghamshire. The off-spinning all-rounder played three games and came out with flying colours. He picked up 23 wickets and scored 197 runs in just three games. He had a massive impact but despite Ashwin’s brilliance, Nottinghamshire lost all those three games.

The 32-year-old returned and straightaway participated in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). He is the captain of the Dindigul Dragons and he led his team to victory in the opening game of the fourth edition of the TNPL. Ashwin finished his four overs with figures of 0/24 but he had walked out to bat at No. 3 and was the top scorer with 37 off just 19 deliveries.

There was one weird incident that broke out towards the end of the game. Ashwin is no stranger to new tricks. In fact, he loves trying out new things and experimenting with various things, especially with his action and delivery stride. And he did so in the opening game of this season’s TNPL. He left everyone stunned with a new and a weird action.

On the fifth delivery off the 20th over of the opposition, Chepauk Super Gillies’ innings, Ashwin unleashed a weird-looking action without using his non-bowling (left) or the front arm. Ashwin’s delivery stride was pretty different as well as he delivered the ball wrong-footed. He delivered the ball with his non-bowling arm unmoved and completed his delivery stride and dished it out on the left foot.

Chepauk Super Gillies needed 17 runs off the last two balls and Ashwin delivered this ball. In his attempt to try something new, Ashwin sprayed it down leg and it was called wide. He is known to tinker with his action every now and then. But it was one of the most unique and weird actions seen from Ashwin in the last few years.

Ashwin’s action left Twitter in splits and here are some of the tweets:
