Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian all-rounder, has a great chance to reclaim his top spot during the Test series against Sri Lanka. He can leapfrog Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh who is currently sitting pretty at the position. The cricketer hasn’t played any Test cricket since August when India was on the tour to Sri Lanka. However, the Saurashtra would also aim to become the number 1 bowler during the series.
India is all set to lock horns with Sri Lanka in the first test of the three-match series on November 16 in Kolkata. Jadeja is eight points behind Shakib in all-rounders list and 12 rating points behind James Anderson. He had perched to the top of ICC Test all-rounders rankings for the first in August and was also the top bowler. But Anderson took his spot during the series against Windies where he bamboozled the visitors and also reached the landmark of 500 wickets.
What about the batsmen?
Ravindra Jadeja has a great chance to regain his top spot in both the departments if he puts up a strong show against Sri Lanka. Also, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli would love to re-enter into the top five batsmen after having a comparatively lean series in the island nation. At the moment he is ranked sixth and trails the Australian David Warner only by a solitary rating point. KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane are also amongst the top ten batsmen in the world and have occupied eighth and ninth position respectively.
The bowling partner of Jaddu, R Ashwin could also leapfrog everyone and reach the top if he performs extraordinarily with the ball. Currently, he is fourth in the list of bowlers and is the only bowler in the top ten. Mohammad Shami (19th) is the only fast bowler for India featuring in the first 20 bowlers in the world as others would look to jump few places by the end of the series.
