Ravindra Jadeja credits his rise to the top of the Test rankings to Dhoni, Kohli

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has made giant strides in the international cricket. About a few years ago, when Jadeja had started his cricket journey, little did he know that he would end up being the number one ranked bowler in the world. Jadeja is currently at the helm of the bowlers’ rankings in Test cricket. He overtook his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to be the top ranked bowler in March this year.

Recently, Ravindra Jadeja took to the social media platform Twitter to reflect back at his journey. In his tweet, he credited his success to the former Indian captain MS Dhoni and the current Indian captain Virat Kohli. Needless to say, the two gentlemen have had a major role to play in Jadeja’s cricket career. When Jadeja had started to grow in stature in the domestic circuit, it was MS Dhoni who had backed him up in the national side.

Also, Dhoni proved to be the ideal mentor for Ravindra Jadeja in the Chennai Super Kings roster in the Indian Premier League. Soon, from being a batting all-rounder, Jadeja chiseled his role in the team as the bowling all-rounder. He developed the ability to bowl consistent lines and lengths that yielded great benefit to him. Also, during his lean phase in the 2014 season after India’s tour to England, he found support in MS Dhoni who continued to monitor and mentor him in the national setup.

In Kohli’s good books too

Currently, he has found the backing of the current Indian captain Virat Kohli. Kohli has never backed away from admitting that Jadeja is one of the most valuable assets to the team. Time and again, he has credited Jadeja for excelling in his field of art. The two players share great history and have been playing together since the India U19 days.

In his tweet, Jadeja thanked Dhoni, Kohli, his family, and fans for their support.
