After a long gruelling season, World No. 1 Test bowler, Ravindra Jadeja revealed about how he felt after being named as Rockstar by Shane Warne during the inaugural edition of the IPL back in 2008 when the leg-spinner was the coach as well as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals. Jadeja expressed that he remained befuddled as he didn’t understand the meaning of him being called as a rockstar.

Ravindra Jadeja was a part of Rajasthan Royals’ successful campaign in the inaugural edition of IPL. Shane Warne successfully led his troops to victory along with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Graeme Smith, Kamran Akmal and many others. Out of the whole lot of youngster on the Royals roster, it was Jadeja’s talent which caught the attention of Warne, thereby, calling him the rockstar.

“Then I didn’t know what Rockstar meant. When I met Shane Warne for the first time, I didn’t know he was such a great bowler in Test cricket. He used to call me ‘rockstar’, and I used to wonder that I don’t sing any songs, nor do I do anything that I deserved to be called a rock star,” commented Jadeja according to Hindustan Times. “I just asked one of my friends why he is calling me a rock star. He said that maybe because you put too much of zinc on your face (smiles)… I kept working hard on my game and kept improving my skills, whether it was bowling or batting added the number 1 Test bowler.

Jadeja on the birth of his daughter

Jadeja recently got the opportunity to meet his newborn daughter who was born when her father was busy with the Champions Trophy. “My mind was diverting for the first few days (when she was born). But when I thought about it, I realised that this (Indian team) too is important. There are very few who get a chance to play for the country. I am very fortunate to be amongst those few ones. There are many people in the family to take care of the baby. So, instead of going home (to see the baby), I stayed back and gave my 100percentt to help my team win the matches,” concluded the emotional off-spinner
