Ravindra Jadeja faces severe backlash from the fans for his hookah picture

Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has had a mixed bag of season thus far. Jadeja, who was once seen as an indispensable part of the Indian team, has missed out on being a part of the limited overs cricket for quite some time now. He is a regular member of the Test team and had recently featured in the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Talking about the performances in that series, Jadeja had performed decently well in the series too. He is among the top bowlers in the longest format of the game. Despite this, Ravindra Jadeja, and his fellow Test teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, have been largely ignored by the selectors when it comes to the limited overs formats of the game.

A lot of speculations were being made that both Jadeja and Ashwin could make a comeback to the ODI and the T20I team for the Sri Lanka series. But, much to their and their fans’ disappointment, the selectors continued to show faith in Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal. While the Indian team is busy with the Sri Lanka series, Jadeja is having his time off from the game.

Amidst this, many would have expected him to work hard on his fitness and strive to be back in the setup. However, he ended up posting a picture on the social media where he is seen smoking hookah. The caption that he added was quite scandalizing too.

The backlash

The picture was not received well by his fans. Some fans remarked that these posts are being watched by Virat Kohli too, and hence, he should be careful. There were others who showed concern for their favorite superstar.

Some even remarked that he could lose the tag of ‘sir’ that the fans gave him if he continues to do such things. Many claimed that the image is set to be tarnished after such posts. There were a few that went a little overboard too. A comment read, “Abhi yoyo fail hoga to beedi peene ko bhi Paisa nhi milega…”
