In the wake of reports that there was a rift between the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings and their star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who was recently ruled out of the remainder of the tournament owing to an injury, Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of the four-time champions team, stated that the Jadeja was released “on medical advice”.
After Jadeja missed the recent encounter against the Delhi Capitals, CSK made an official announcement on Wednesday about his injury and informed that he had been ruled out of the tournament. After he was ruled out due to a bruised rib, rumours sparked soon stating that there was a rift between the player and the franchise saying that the CSK’s official Instagram account unfollowed Jadeja.
CSK CEO Viswanathan shed light on the matter and informed that the reports were false saying that the senior pro ‘firmly remains in CSK’s scheme of things.’ “Social media, I absolutely do not follow anything. I have no knowledge of what is going on there. What I can tell you is that from the management side, there has been no problem and whatever is there on social media, I’m not aware. Jadeja firmly remains in the CSK’s scheme of things for the future, always,” Viswanathan told The Indian Express.
“Jaddu had an injury during the game against RCB and after that he didn’t play the game against Delhi Capitals. On medical advice, it has been decided that he cannot participate further in this IPL and he is heading back home. He has been released,” he added.
Jadeja stepped down from captaincy mid-way in the tournament
Ravindra Jadeja was named the captain of the side ahead of the IPL 2022 but had to relinquish the title and give back the duties to MS Dhoni following his dismal run this season. He was unable to showcase a good performance this season and his numbers with the bat saw a major decline in his form. Skipper Dhoni, after taking over the captaincy, had informed that being at the peak of his career for the Indian side, the captaincy had added extra pressure on the all-rounder and as a result, he was unable to focus on his performance.
“Once you become captain, it means a lot of demands come in. But it affected his mind as the tasks grew. I think captaincy burdened his prep and performances,” Dhoni had said during a match presentation.
