On Team India’s ongoing tour of England, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is yet to feature in a single game. With the pitches favouring pacers in England, it’s likely that the wait might be longer. While off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been the first choice among the slower bowlers, chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav was preferred above him in the Lord’s Test.

The move was surprising since Jadeja is ranked as the No.3 bowler and the No.2 all-rounder in the ICC Test rankings. He was also a part of the previous tour in 2014 where he scored 177 runs and took 9 wickets in four Tests. Despite being a part of the squad for the South African tour, Jadeja still didn’t find a place in the playing XI in either of the three Test matches.

Prefers scoring a century over a fifer

Recently, the 29-year-old engaged in a candid chat with ESPNcricinfo. He was asked a series of questions regarding cricket, personal life and preferences. Jadeja, as we know of him, was quite outright in his answers. The all-rounder was asked which cricket ground serves the best lunch, he didn’t have to think much before answering that it was the Home of Cricket, the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

Jadeja was then asked to name a cricketer who spends most of his time on the phone. He cheekily replied Shikhar Dhawan and stated that the Delhi boy is always busy texting his wife, Aesha Dhawan who would certainly be pleased to know that.

On the cricketing front, Jadeja was given a choice as to what would rather make him happy – a five-wicket haul or a Test century. He asserted that since he has never scored a century at the highest level and has quite a few five-wicket hauls, he’s looking forward to doing that.

Jaddu has scored 18 half centuries till date in international cricket and has 9 five-wicket hauls and a ten-wicket match haul as well.
