RCB postpones training camp after coronavirus pandemic
It was earlier scheduled to get underway on Saturday, March 21.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has decided to postpone their training camp for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The same is due to the coronavirus outbreak that has been spewing venom across the globe over the last few days. The camp was earlier scheduled to get underway on Saturday, March 21, but it won’t be the case anymore.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) also started their practice sessions before calling it off in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The start of the IPL has also been postponed from March 29 to April 15. The RCB took to their official Twitter handle to announce the postponement of their camp. They also asked the netizens to abide by the guidelines set by the Health Ministry.
The franchise took to Twitter and wrote, “Keeping in mind the health and safety of everyone involved, the RCB Training Camp scheduled to start on the 21st of March has been deferred until further notice. We request everyone to follow the guidelines provided by the Health Ministry and stay safe.”

RCB yet to win the IPL
The Challengers, led by Virat Kohli, have played the IPL final two times in 2009 and 2016, but lost both times. Barring the couple of seasons, the team has mostly found itself in the bottom half of the points table. Most times they started their campaign with a string of defeats and when they begin to get the victories under their belt, they are either eliminated or on the brink of getting ousted.
Virat Kohli, who’s also the skipper of the Indian national team, has been leading the RCB for the last six seasons, but hasn’t tasted much success. From the personal front, the 31-year-old has been a bedrock of the Challengers, but somehow hasn’t been able to translate it into victories for his team.
Despite his dry run as the captain, the RCB hasn’t replaced him and has shown faith in him even for the next season. The Delhi-born is one of the leading run-scorers of the IPL and has been honing his skills ever since the first season in 2008. It remains to be seen if he can turn RCB’s fortunes around.
