Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is a fan favourite team with a lot of power hitting entertainers in the squad and with them playing their qualifier against Gujarat Lions (GL) in Bangalore, the whole stadium will be painted red.
RCB having won 8 out of their 14 group matches and took the 2nd in the points table behind the Gujarat Lions, with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the third and fourth positions respectively. At one stage, the Royal Challengers were almost on their way out of the tournament with just 4 wins out of 10 matches. But, they came back strongly with 4 wins in their last 4 clashes beating Gujarat Lions at Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to Kolkata, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Bangalore and lastly Delhi Daredevils (DD) at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Raipur to qualify for the playoffs.

RCB qualified after winning their last group stage match against Delhi Daredevils. After winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli put the opposition into bat. Despite Quinton de Cock scoring 60 runs, no one else contributed much and Delhi ended up posting a total of 138 runs. DD did start well with the ball, with the wickets of Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers but skipper Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a match-winning performance with an unbeaten 54 off 45 deliveries with six boundaries, to take his side to the playoffs of the tournament.
The RCB team received an awesome reception at the team hotel, The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore, when they returned home for their playoffs.
