RCB to go green in their clash against KKR
With nothing to lose from the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore will hope to regain their form against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are probably in the midst of the strongest turbulence they have ever been through in the 10 years of IPL since the inception. The United Spirits-owned franchise finds themselves toil at the extreme bottom of the table with nothing going in their favour. An aged Chris Gayle, a misfiring Virat Kohli, an inconsistent AB de Villiers and an out of form Shane Watson completely sums up their terrible campaign so far.
But despite being out of the race for the playoffs, the men in red have decided to contribute their bit to mother nature as they prepare themselves for their next encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The franchise took to Twitter to announce their support for an eco-friendly environment and has urged their supporters to hit the Chinnaswamy stadium on cycles.
The campaign has been named ‘Pedal for Green’ which would also see Kohli and his men take the field in a green jersey. This would be the first time in this season that we will see the Bangalore side shift colours from their red jersey to a different one.
With nothing to lose from the game, RCB will hope to regain their form against the Knight Riders who are just two wins away from entering the playoffs. KKR definitely are the firm favourites going into the clash but Bangalore will have the home advantage on their side. However, RCB’s chasing ability has been much of a concern this season as they have been bundled out for relatively low totals despite a strong batting line up.
The players desperately need to get back to form both as a team and as individuals to salvage pride before the end of their campaign this season. It would be tough to predict a comfortable winner on Sunday but the home crowd will definitely hope that the change of jersey will bring about a change in the team’s fortune.
