Reason why MS Dhoni doesn't sport Indian flag on his helmet will make you respect him more
A wicket-keeper needs to use a helmet while keeping to the spinners during the game.
MS Dhoni is one of the most successful captains of India and is still going strong in the limited overs set up for the team. The veteran has been one of the most celebrated cricketers not only in India but all over the world for his achievements in his illustrious career. While he deserves all the accolades for his brilliant job behind the wickets, his fans are left wondering why Dhoni doesn’t sport the Indian flag on his helmet. However, the reason has been revealed for the same and his fans will surely respect him more.
Dhoni was recently in South Africa during India’s limited overs triumph over the home side. His contribution from behind the stumps was huge given the success for the wrist spinners of the Men in Blue during the tour. Dhoni was guiding the youngsters on how to ball to a certain batsman and they reaped instant rewards for the same. While his batting also was the highlight in some of the matches, he surely has set an example by showing the respect to the National flag.
Reason revealed
A wicket-keeper always has to switch his hat and helmet while keeping the spinners and the fast bowlers during the course of the game. They can’t always request the 12th man to do the job as it will waste a lot of time and the umpires too won’t allow for the same. Hence the wicket-keepers prefer to keep the helmet behind the stumps itself and carry it between the overs.
Now Dhoni has preferred not to sport the Indian flag on his helmet because the flag is the symbol of great honour and respect. According to the Quora user, the law states that any equipment with the national flag on it cannot be placed on the ground. So the former Indian skipper has decided to remove the flag from his wicket-keeping helmet which is a briliant gesture. The cricket is already an idol for many and his respect will only go a notch higher when his fans will know this reason.
