Team England is currently facing off against the mighty Indian side in a short ODI series. The clash between the two sides is being rated very highly. While many might feel that the buzz around the competition is uncalled for, the ones keeping an eye on the stats would know that the series is a contest between the two top sides. It is worth noting that both team India and the team England have transitioned big time over the last few years.
They have adopted an aggressive brand of cricket in the white ball form of the game. The Indian team, under the leadership of Virat Kohli, has started improving their numbers on the overseas tours. Meanwhile, the English side is defining new records. It is not surprising to see these two sides top the charts in the ODI numbers. Since the 2015 edition of the ICC World Cup, team England have won the most number of matches.
They have played 69 matches and have won on 46 occasions. They have a win percentage of 66.67 – the best in the list. They are closely followed by team India who have a win percent of 66.10 since the ICC World Cup. India has played 59 matches and has won 39 games. They have lost 19 times and one game has gone for a no result. Another team that has shown good consistency in ODIs is South Africa.
Barring their horror show in the ODI series against India earlier this year, they have had a very dominating run in the format. They have won 31 out of the 53 matches played since 2015 WC with a win percent of 58.49. Team Pakistan, the winners of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, have had a mild time on the field when seen on a larger scaled. They have played 52 matches – winning 25, losing 26, and a no result – since 2015 WC.
It is also interesting to see that the Australian side, who had won the ICC World Cup 2015, has slipped miserably in the last three years. Australia has only won 27 out of the 60 ODI matches they have played since their title glory in 2015. They have a poor win percent of 45.
