Brendon McCullum, easily the most successful New Zealand skipper’s international career came to an end. McCullum made name for himself as a hard-hitting batsman and one of the most dangerous in world cricket. His aggressive mindset was seen not only with the bat but also in his tactics as a captain on the field that set new benchmarks in New Zealand cricket. McCullum not only broke records with his dashing batting but also created a few notable records and stats with his impressive captaincy.

Here we look at all the notable milestones and stats he recorded during his international career:

1 – Brendon McCullum led New Zealand into the final of 2015 World Cup, this was New Zealand’s first ever World Cup final appearance.

1.636 – New Zealand’s win/loss ratio under McCullum’s captaincy in ODIs is 1.636, the 9th best win/loss ratio for a captain who has led in at least 50 ODIs and best for any New Zealand captain.

2 – He is the only player to score 2 centuries in T20I format.

3 – He is one of the 3 players who have scored 3 double centuries in Test cricket in a calendar year. He scored 1 triple century and 2 double centuries in 2014.

10 – 10 consecutive ODIs were won by New Zealand in 2015 between January and March. This was the longest winning streak for NZ in ODIs. All those 10 ODIs were played by New Zealand under McCullum’s captaincy.

15 – Number of fifty plus scores he has recorded in T20I format, the most by any other player.

18 – He holds the record for the fastest fifty in World Cup, which came off just 18 balls. He scored it against England in 2015.

33 – Number of sixes Brendon McCullum has hit in Test cricket in 2014, the most by any player in a calendar year.

44 – His 44-ball fifty in Youth Test match vs South Africa in 2000/01 is the fastest known fifty in Youth Test cricket.

54 – He holds the record for the fastest century in Tests, which came off just 54 balls. He scored it against Australia in 2016, in his final Test match.

73.77 – McCullum’s Test match strike rate as captain, the highest for any player with at least 1500 runs as captain in Tests.

91 – Number of sixes he hit in his T20I career, the most by any player.

96 – Brendon McCullum’s 96-ball century in Youth Test match vs South Africa in 2000/01 is the 4th fastest where known century in Youth Test cricket. He scored a century in 97 balls in the earlier game, the 5th fastest where known century in the format. He holds a unique record of scoring 2 centuries inside 100 balls in Youth Test cricket.

100 – He is one of the 3 players who have hit 3 centuries in 3 consecutive matches in Youth Tests. He is also one of the 3 players who have scored 3 centuries in a calendar year in Youth Test cricket.

101 – Number of Test matches McCullum has played in his career. He played all of them without missing since his debut. No other player has played more than 98 Tests before missing out since his debut for his team.

103 – Brendon McCullum completed his 150 in just 103 balls during a Test match against Sri Lanka in 2014, the fastest 150 in Test cricket.

107 – Number of sixes he has hit in his Test career, the most by any player.

120.11 – His ODI strike rate as captain is the highest for any player with at least 1000 runs as captain in ODIs.

151.66 – Brendon McCullum’s batting average in Youth Test cricket, the highest for any player with at least 350 runs in the format.

170 – Runs scored by McCullum in his final Test match. These are the most runs scored by a captain in his final Test match also the most runs scored by a New Zealand player in his farewell Test.

186 – Runs scored by McCullum in an innings in a Youth Test match for New Zealand U19 against South Africa in 2000/01. This is the highest individual innings by a New Zealand player in Youth Test cricket.

199 – Number of fours he hit in his T20I career, the most by any player.

200 – Number of sixes he hit in his ODI career, only 3 players have hit more sixes than McCullum in this format.

274 – Brendon McCullum’s partnership stand of 274 with Hamish Marshall vs Ireland in 2008 is the highest stand for any wicket in ODIs for New Zealand and 3rd highest opening stand in ODI format.

302 – His 302 against India in 2014 is the highest individual score by a New Zealand player and the only triple century recorded in Test cricket from his country.

398 – Number of sixes he hit in his overall international career, only 2 players have hit more sixes than McCullum in international cricket.

2140 – Runs scored by Brendon McCullum in T20Is, the most by any other player.
