Cricketers might be opponents on the cricket field but away from the action, they share a great camaraderie and it was proven once again by Pakistan legend Wasim Akram. Keeping aside all the political tension between India and Pakistan, Akram has penned a heartwarming message for his old adversary Sachin Tendulkar as the latter battles COVID-19.
Last week, Tendulkar announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and urged others to remain cautious. And on Friday, he stated that he has been hospitalized ‘as a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice.’ Tendulkar took to Twitter to give an update on his health while wishing the countrymen on the 10th anniversary of India’s win in the 2011 World Cup.
The former India batsman hoped he would be back home in a few days. Tendulkar also asked others to take care of themselves in these testing times as he wrote: “Thank you for your wishes and prayers. As a matter of abundant precaution under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home in a few days. Take care and stay safe everyone. Wishing all Indians & my teammates on the 10th anniversary of our World Cup win.”

Wasim Akram’s message for Sachin Tendulkar:
Soon after Sachin Tendulkar gave the update on his health, messages poured in from all the quarters for his well-being. Wasim Akram did not take long to post a message for the legendary batsman either. The former Pakistan skipper took to Twitter to motivate Tendulkar and expressed confidence in Tendulkar’s ability to hit COVID-19 for a six.
Akram also advised the India legend to celebrate India’s World Cup triumph anniversary with the hospital staff as he tweeted: “Even when you were 16, you battled the world’s best bowlers with guts and aplomb… so I am sure you will hit Covid-19 for a SIX! Recover soon master! Would be great if you celebrate India’s World Cup 2011 anniversary with doctors and hospital staff… do send me a pic!”

Tendulkar is not the only high-profile name from Indian cricket to test positive for the dreaded virus in recent times. Iran Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, and S Badrinath have also tested positive in recent times. All the players had participated in the Road Safety World Series earlier this month.
