'Remember choosing Lancashire on my Playstation'- Washington Sundar nostalgic ahead of county debut

India’s spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar is eagerly looking forward to playing with veteran England pacer James Anderson as he gets to overcome new challenges during his county stint at Lancashire. Interestingly, ahead of his county debut, Sundar has recalled choosing Lancashire while playing on Playstation. Giving further clarification on the same, Sundar said that he chose Lancashire against most of the domestic teams while playing on Playstation and then added that he was privileged to be representing this English Cricket Club. At the same time, the middle-order batter also heaped praise on James Anderson by saying that the senior Test specialist has the ability to swing the ball both ways. It is great to be here and playing for Lancashire: Washington Sundar “I remember playing with my Playstation and choosing Lancashire against most of the domestic teams here. It is great to be here and playing for Lancashire,” said Sundar in an interview with the club’s official YouTube channel. “It has got some exciting talents and some experienced players. I am looking forward to sharing the dressing room with them and to sharing of knowledge about how cricket is played here,” he added. “Obviously, James Anderson is a legend, he can swing the ball both ways. Looking forward to seeing him here, seeing him bowl and how he goes about his things,” the Tamil Nadu all-rounder further added. The Tamil Nadu player used to be one of India’s regular Test members at one point in time and was an integral part of India’s famous 2020/21 Test series triumph Down Under where he played an impactful role along with Shardul Thakur with a key partnership in the first innings of the Gabba Test. Unfortunately for the youngster, he has not been a part of the Indian squad since July last year after a finger injury that ruled him out of the England Test series. In fact, he has not played a single Test for India after March 2021. The southpaw would be hoping to make the most of his county stint and make a comeback to the Indian red-ball setup in style.
