Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh is likely to be part of Rajya Sabha soon. It has been reported that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to send him to Rajya Sabha in the biennial elections from Punjab. The party was elected in Punjab with majority in recent elections and Bhagwant Mann also took an oath as the Chief Minister of the State.
He has promised to set up a Sports University in Jalandhar. There is every possibility, according to reports in First Post, that AAP government may give Harbhajan the command of the said university. Five Rajya Sabha seats are set to get vacant next month and the biennial elections will be taking place for those seats. One of those seats may go to the cricketer if the sources are to be believed while the voting will take place if needed on March 31.
