Virat Kohli will be playing the 100th Test of his fantabulous international career and luckily, 50 per cent crowd capacity will be able to view his batting at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali. Kohli has been going through a lean patch without centuries for the last three years in international cricket and his numbers in Tests especially have come down. The 33-year-old made his Test debut in 2011 and since then, he has gone on to score 7962 runs at an average of 50.4.
Kohli was rested for the recent T20I series against Sri Lanka and he hasn’t been able to get the big scores under his belt despite getting starts. His weakness in the fifth stump line has started to creep in again but hardly any cricketer can do it better than him when it comes to making a comeback and he will be looking to end his century drought in the upcoming series.
Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that the Mohali Test will be played behind closed doors. However, the latest developements suggest 50 percent of spectators can fill up the seats. Meanwhil, Kohli has stepped down from the Test captaincy role after the South Africa tour and will be playing as a pure batter under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. He has been the most successful captain for India in Tests with 40 wins in 68 Tests. The right-hander had a terrific series in 2017 when Sri Lanka toured India last time around and smacked back to back double centuries in consecutive Tests.
