Reports: BCCI shortlists four candidates for the national selectors' post

There is strong speculation going around the post of Indian chief selector as the BCCI is still due to announce the replacement for MSK Prasad, the outgoing chief selector and Gagan Khoda, the in-charge of Central zone. Now, there is news that the apex council has finalised the list of final four applicants that will be interviewed in person by CAC in the near future.
MSK Prasad, the former India wicketkeeper took the charge in his hand back in 2016 and there were reports that his tenure might get extended for one more year. However, BCCI came onto a decision during the Annual General Meeting that was held in the first week of December 2019, that they will look for a new eligible applicant for the same.

Many big former players applied for the post of selectors but many got rejected from going into the further round of the selection. As per the reports by TimesNow, BCCI has now shortlisted four candidates including Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Ajit Agarkar, Venkatesh Prasad and Rajesh Chauhan to be interviewed by the Cricket Advisory committee member Madan Lal, Rudra Pratap Singh and Sulakshana Nail.
As per the new constitution, the zonal system has been removed from but still, BCCI is looking to continue with the old model to keep a proper balance. There is no official announcement being made by the apex cricket board. However, there is an expectation that the overall selection procedure will be completed within 10 days by the end of February.
India is currently on a tour to New Zealand and is gearing up for the two-match Test series. Soon after that, they will lock horns with South Africa in the three-match ODI series starting on 12th of March. And, it is looked down as the first assignment for the newly appointed selector.
Earlier, there was a goof-up as some of the applicants’ mail went into the spam folder of BCCI due to which the office bearers had to reconsider some names again for shortlisting the final names for the interview round.
