The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has put forth a plan to help out countries, which are likely to incur huge losses in the coronavirus pandemic. As per reports, the world’s richest board has tried to evaluate as to how much losses each cricketing nation has faced. It has been learned that BCCI secretary Jay Shah has promised some solutions to the FTP during ICC’s meeting this week.

It means that India would be playing more matches against smaller teams once the situation normalises. The series will help the other cricket boards generate significant revenues. In the next 12 months, India are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. “India will look to honour each of those commitments, as soon as we can,” a BCCI official told to Hindustan Times.

Amidst the bilateral series, India will also be a part of the men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. However, due to the grave situation, the tournament has come under the clouds. The BCCI official is of the opinion that chances of the mega event going ahead looks slim.

BCCI estimated to earn Rs 2500 crore from the IPL

“Is the ICC serious when it expects eight venues to be available to them for a World Cup in October? Will all governments permit outbound travel in a sixteen-nation world event? Cricket Australia is thinking of holding multiple Test matches in a single venue for India’s tour in December. How will they arrange eight venues for a World Cup?,” the official stated.

The BCCI is estimated to earn around Rs 2500 crores from the IPL and Rs 950 crores from bilateral series in 2020-21. In the current FTP cycle, the ECB makes $ 139 million even as each of Cricket Australia, Cricket South Africa, Pakistan Cricket Board, New Zealand Cricket, Sri Lanka Cricket, Cricket West Indies and Bangladesh Cricket Board make $128 million.

“While we know that India can’t possibly tour every other country in a short span of time, it is possible to add matches to the existing home calendar and help other member boards out by covering current losses. A part of the proceeds from extra matches held in India may be given to the visiting team,” the official added.
