The IPL 2022 will be lighting up the stage in a few weeks’ time from now as five practice venues have been identified and the teams are likely to start their training from March 14 or 15.  It has been reported that the MCA ground in suburban Bandra Kurla Complex, MCA ground in Thane, the Dr DY Patil University ground and a football pitch along with the CCI (Cricket Club of India) and the Reliance Corporate Park ground in Ghansoli are the venues that have been identified so far.

The league stages of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2021-22 season gets over by March 6th and the players who have been picked up for IPL are likely to report to Mumbai city by March 8. They will have to undergo RT-PCR test 48 hours prior to their arrival in Mumbai and they will also undergo 3-5 days of quarantine before entering their respective bio bubbles. The ten-team tournament is scheduled to start by March 26 with 70 league games in Mumbai and Pune.

Also, according to the reports in NDTV, more than 10 hotels have been chosen in Mumbai and two have been picked in Pune. It has to be noted that Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 games each while Brabourne Stadium and MCA International Stadium in Pune will host 15 games each.

The tournament will kick-off between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings and the runners up Kolkata Knight Riders taking on each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Maharashtra Government hopes for smooth conduct of IPL with BCCI

Ministers, Aaditya Thackeray and Eknath Shinde, along with MCA chief Vijay Patil and apex council members Ajinkya Naik and Abhay Hadap were present at the meeting with BCCI members to discuss the smooth conduct of the cash-rich tournament in Maharashtra. Flight travel which was a major issue in the last IPL in India has now been evaded and all ten teams will stay in a separate hotel to get their bubble intact.
