Reports: Harbhajan Singh thinking to skip the IPL 2020 due to COVID-19 cases in CSK camp
Harbhajan Singh, reportedly, is scheduled to fly to Dubai on Tuesday.
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is only 19 days away from getting underway and the problems for the Chennai Super Kings are not ending. Last week has been especially terrible for the franchise with around 10-12 members of their camp contracting coronavirus. Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaekwad are two of the cricketers out of them and they have already been isolated out of the bio-bubble.
Soon, Suresh Raina pulled out of the whole IPL season for the personal reasons. The controversy has hit CSK it seems due to his exit thanks to N Srinivasan’s recent comments and now the veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh is thinking to give IPL a skip. He wasn’t the part of the camp that took place in Chennai and is yet to join the team in Dubai.
According to the reports in Insidesport, Harbhajan is scheduled to fly for Dubai on Tuesday but the COVID-19 cases in the CSK camp has left him worried. “Harbhajan is due to join the team on Tuesday. But the situation with Chennai Super Kings currently, has left him very worried. He may rejig his schedules or even decide to skip the IPL this year,” a source close to the player said.
CSK in trouble
With Raina already not present for the whole season, if Harbhajan Singh indeed pulls out, it will be a huge trouble for the CSK in the upcoming season. They will already be lacking in practice compared to the other teams as their quarantine has been extended and pulling out of senior players will do no good to the team environment either.
Also, the reports are coming in that a few other senior foreign cricketers are getting apprehensive about the whole situation in the camp. Srinivasan’s latest interview to Outlook has cleared that all is not well between the franchise and Raina as well and that might have repercussions on the whole team as well. However, the CSK boss is happy that MS Dhoni is calm and has assured him that there is nothing to worry about.
