Reports: IPL 2021 to resume with the blockbuster clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians
The city of Dubai will host the first qualifier on 10th October 2021, while Sharjah will host the second qualifier as well as the Eliminator matches.
There is some news that has come out regarding the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). According to a report in The Indian Express, the second half of the 2021 IPL season will resume with a blockbuster clash.
Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians will lock horns with the three-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings when the IPL resumes once again on 19th September 2021 in the city of Dubai. News has also come in that Dubai will host the first qualifier on 10th October 2021 as well.
The city of Sharjah will host the 2nd qualifier as well as the Eliminator matches that will be held on 11th and 13th October 2021 respectively. Also, according to a report in Cricbuzz, the Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals officials have stated that they would like to reach Dubai by 20th August 2021. Currently, all flights from India to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been banned till 30th July.

Also, the CEO of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kasi Viswanathan revealed that the Chennai side would like to assemble in the UAE latest by 20th August 2021, and they have also informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the same. Viswanathan concluded by stating that the CSK side is also hoping to get the required permissions as well.
“We want to be there by August 15, latest by 20th and we have informed the BCCI that we want to be there by then. We are hoping to get the required permissions, without which the logistical plans will be difficult to execute,” Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
At the time of suspension of the 2021 edition of the IPL, the Delhi Capitals side was stationed at the top of the points table, having emerged triumphant in 6 out of its 8 matches. The Chennai Super Kings were occupying the 2nd place, while the 3rd and 4th places were occupied by the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians sides respectively.
