Reports: MS Dhoni wants BCCI to prepare Rishabh Pant for T20 World Cup 2020
BCCI to nourish Rishabh Pant and his backups for T20 World Cup 2020.
In Indian cricket, the replacement of MS Dhoni has been the most debated topic after the conclusion of World Cup 2019 and Rishabh Pant was deemed as the successor of Dhoni. He is extremely talented with the bat and being a wicketkeeper, BCCI thought he will be a brilliant addition to the Indian team but his dipping form has raised a lot of questions over who will handle the number 4 position and stand behind the stumps in the limited over cricket for Team India.
Pant hasn’t been at his best, and it looks like the clock has started ticking for the youngster as selectors have stated that they are ready for the backups of the 21-year-old youngster. He has been mocked by his fans and former cricketers for his careless cricketing shots. Team management knows how much talent, he has which has led them to be patient.
MS Dhoni is yet to make any international cricket appearance after playing the semi-finals against New Zealand in the World Cup 2019. He was criticized upside down by the fans for playing slow throughout the mega tournament and many had asked to replace him.
MS Dhoni has given time to the board, according to reports
The Ranchi-born veteran cricketer was expected to hang his boots after the 2019 ICC World Cup in England & Wales but it has been learned that the 2011 World Cup-winning captain is sitting out in order to give BCCI the time to prepare Rishabh Pant as well as his back-ups for next year’s ICC T20 World Cup, according to DNA. Earlier this month, it was revealed that MS Dhoni made himself unavailable till November which means that he would not be a part of the team for the forthcoming series against Bangladesh either.
However, the veteran gloveman’s return is expected when India hosts West Indies for a three-match ODI and Test series. There is still an announcement needed to come out over the future the former Indian skipper as there is no clarity on whether Dhoni plans to play cricket for India again. Bangladesh’s tour of India will start on 3rd of November.
