Devajit Saika opines on the security for the series opener between India and Sri Lanka

Devajit Saika, the secretary Assam Cricket Association said that they are concerned about the security of the players and they have arranged high-level security for the series opener. They are preparing for the same since last month. He also added that they don’t want an incidence to repeat as that happened back in 2017 when a fan threw a stone on the Australia cricket team bus. Sarkar also revealed that they will follow every protocol and there is no question mark over it.

“Whatever security protocol we have to follow, we are, Nothing more, nothing less. No situation arose where the ACA or the BCCI were sceptical about holding this match. Following a timeline, we have prepared for this for a month. That is why we are so relaxed. Everybody is concerned, not just the people of Assam. This is an international event and will have heightened security measures. We have to be prepared,” Saika said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

A BCCI official said that no placards, posters will be allowed in the match as per their information because they might harm the advertisements. Only the essentials like wallets, ladies handbags, mobile phones and vehicle keys would be allowed to carry into the stadium, “However, BCCI will abide by whatever the local authorities say on this,” the official said.
