Reports: Ravi Shastri met CoA before Asia Cup to discuss Test series defeat in England

Team India suffered a Test series defeat in England despite faring much better than their previous tours. But they were guilty of giving away their best position in the close games which eventually cost them two of the five matches. The scoreline of 1-4 surely doesn’t reflect how competitive they were. However, the batsmen’s failure didn’t go down well with many which is why the head coach Ravi Shastri met the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) before the Asia Cup.

During the final Test, there were reports of the BCCI summoning Shastri for a review of a poor performance from the team in England. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, the Men in Blue only managed to win the three-match T20I series and came second in the ODI and Test tussle. The repercussions of the same are already visible as Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay have not been considered for the upcoming Windies Tests.

The scoreline doesn’t reflect anything

According to the reports in Mumbai Mirror, Ravi Shastri was the one who attended the meeting with CoA before Asia Cup and defended Kohli and Co. saying that the fight which the team put up was impeccable. In a way, his claims are spot on as at one stage, it was also being said, India played much better than the hosts and ended up losing the series.

However, the fact that they wasted one of the best chances to register a series win in whites in England can’t be undermined. It is also being learnt that Shastri, as the head coach, was happy with the team’s show and had no complaints whatsoever. He also opined that losing the toss also played a crucial role in the final outcome.

The time is running out for the Indian team to prove that they are the world beaters with series losses in South Africa and England. All the hopes are now on Australia tour where they are scheduled to play four Test matches and the series is all set to commence in December.
