Since the day India’s squad for the Australia tour has been announced, Rohit Sharma’s hamstring injury has been the talk of the town. It was announced that the star opener is under BCCI’s observation but his name wasn’t there in the squad. However, Rohit was seen practicing in a video shared by Mumbai Indians on the very same day and it sparked controversy.

Later in the following week, Rohit Sharma even played two consecutive games for Mumbai Indians and it added fuel to the fire. However, his return on the field also increased the hopes of his return to the Indian squad. BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly also said that Rohit can be added to the squad if he is fit. Now, as the day of Team India’s departure is getting closer, reports are suggesting some good news for the Men in Blue.

As per a report in Outlook, the Indian white-ball vice-captain might board the chartered flight right after IPL. His team Mumbai Indians has qualified for the finals and Rohit will feature in the decisive game on 10th November. The Indian team will be travelling to Sydney and Rohit Sharma is expected to board the same flight.

“A decision will be taken soon in this regard. It’s only fair that Rohit stays with the team and does his strength and conditioning work under physio Nitin Patel and trainer Nick Webb. Let’s see how it goes,” a BCCI source said.

A tough Australian tour ahead for Team India

India’s tour Down Under is going to be a tough contest for the Men in Blue. They became the first Asian side to win a Test series on the Australian soil in 2018-19 but Steve Smith and David Warner were serving a ban at that time. Australian side has been an extremely strong unit since the return of their two of the biggest match-winners and repeating the success is going to be difficult.

As Virat Kohli has always kept Test cricket as his utmost priority, he might rest his limited-overs deputy in the white-ball leg of the long tour. The limited-overs series will start on 27th November and the Test series will begin later on 17th December. Although Rohit has declared his hamstring injury as ‘absolutely fine’, such injury is extremely prone to reoccur.
