Reports: Sarfaraz Ahmed unhappy with India getting favorable tracks in the World Cup

Pakistan’s World Cup 2019 campaign started with a shambolic seven-wicket defeat against the Windies at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The pitch there assisted the fast bowlers as the likes of Oshane Thomas, Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder, and Andre Russell ripped the heart out the Pakistan batting. Their batsmen had absolutely no clue about how to tackle the venom of the Caribbean pacers.

Thereafter, the Men in Green rolled over host and favorites England at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham by 14 runs. Their last match versus Sri Lanka in Bristol was abandoned due to rain. In the meantime, it has been learned that ahead of Pakistan’s fourth match against Australia at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton, skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed isn’t happy by any means.

As per a report in the widely circulated ‘Jang’ newspaper from Taunton, Sarfaraz wasn’t satisfied after inspecting the pitch in Taunton. Pakistan skipper reportedly a tad agitated as the pitch is grassy and clearly have bounce, pace, and help for the fast bowlers. Reports also suggest that the 32-year-old is dissatisfied as Pakistan get pitches in ICC events that do not favor their style of play. Moreover, if reports are to be believed, then the captain is also not happy as India always gets pitches that are batting friendly and also assists their slow bowlers.

“The captain has been wondering as to why the Indians always get wickets which are good for batting and also suitable for spinners. Such wickets suit Asian teams. However, the Pakistan team is almost always made to play on more challenging surfaces in ICC events like the one at Taunton,” a source close to Sarfaraz was quoted as saying in Geo News.

As far as the World Cup is concerned, Pakistan is languishing at the eighth position of the points table with three points from as many matches. Sarfaraz also expressed his displeasure after Pakistan’s last match was called off. Pakistan bowling coach Azhar Mahmood reckoned that the players have learned from their mistakes and wouldn’t commit the same errors even if the pitch generates pace and bounce.
