Senior all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan may miss the all-format series against the West Indies. Bangladesh will fly to the Caribbean islands next month in June for two Test matches, three ODIs, and three T20Is. According to reports, Shakib might not be part of the team in the ODI series on the WI tour. BCB sources have hinted about the senior all-rounder’s unavailability in the limited-overs series.

The ODI series between Bangladesh and West Indies will commence on July 10. The series is excluded from the ODI Super League despite being a bilateral series. Nonetheless, senior all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s availability for the ODI series is still under question and he may let himself out of this format on the WI tour.

We haven’t heard anything officially: Jalal Yunus, Chairman of Cricket

“We haven’t heard anything officially. We’re going forward with the plan that he will be in all three formats. Since the ODI series is in the latter part of the tour, we will see to it when he lets us know,” Jalal Yunus, Chairman of Cricket operations said.

The senior cricketer has delivered magnificently in ODI cricket for Bangladesh. Having appeared in 221 matches he played, Shakib has scored 6755 runs with a batting average of 37.73, hitting nine centuries and 50 half-centuries. On the other hand, he has scalped 285 wickets with a bowling average of 29.47 and an economy rate of 4.44. He claimed five wickets in an innings three times and four wickets in an innings nine times.

If he opts to sit out in the ODI series against West Indies, then the Bangladesh camp is definitely going to miss his services. Meanwhile, Bangladesh are currently involved in a Test series against Sri Lanka, After the first Test ended in a draw, the Tigers will lock horns with the visitors in the second and final Test in Mirpur from May 23.
