Reports: Suresh Raina removed from CSK's WhatsApp group after his departure
Raina hinted at returning to CSK camp on Wednesday.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Suresh Raina continue to hog the headlines despite the latter clearing the air around his sudden exit from UAE last week. Raina also hinted at a possible return to the camp at some point this season. However, it seems that all is still not well in the CSK camp. Moreover, N Srinivasan also cleared on Wednesday that MS Dhoni will decide whether the southpaw should return to the team or no.
Latest reports suggest that Raina was removed from the team’s WhatsApp group following his hasty decision to leave and return to India. For the unversed, it all started when 13 members of the CSK camp, including two cricketers Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, were tested positive for COVID-19. Soon after the news came out, Raina pulled out of the entire IPL season and then N Srinivasan’s interview hinted at a huge controversy.
Several speculations were being made about Suresh Raina’s decision to leave UAE which also included of him being unhappy about the hotel room. There was also a personal tragedy he had to deal with and the man himself cleared that he was worried about his young family and that prompted him to return.
However, according to the reports in InsideSport, the 33-year-old has been removed from the WhatsApp group and now, he has reached out to the team management and has apologised for his conduct. “Once he left, he has been removed from CSK’s WhatsApp group. He has reached out to team-management including CEO, MS Dhoni and Coach Fleming and is looking for a chance to return,” the source said.
CSK hasn’t sought any replacement for Suresh Raina yet
While it remains to be seen if Suresh Raina will be allowed to return again, one good news for the cricketer is that the CSK hasn’t sought any replacement for him as of now. The CEO of the franchise Kasi Viswanathan made it clear on Tuesday that the coach Stephen Fleming and the skipper Dhoni are happy with the resources at the moment.
“We are not calling for any replacement for Raina. Team captain and team coach are both satisfied with what we have in our kitty currently,” he had said.
