The T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE has reached its climax with England, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan qualifying for the semi-final of the tournament. The mega event witnessed limited crowds on all the three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah – due to COVID-19. However, the final set to be played on November 14 is expected to have full attendance of the fans.

It has been understood that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) have got required permission to welcome capacity crowd for the grand final. Dubai International Stadium is scheduled to host the final with 25,000 seating capacity and we might witness a full house for the first time in the tournament.

A BCCI source confirmed the news stating that the two boards had sought the permission from the concerned authorities and their request was accepted.

“The BCCI and the ECB were keen to have capacity crowd for the final. Permission for the same has been granted, but all COVID-19 protocols have to be followed. The boards had sought permission from the authorities and the approval has come. The ICC has done a brilliant job in ensuring all protocols are in place and we will all continue to work together to ensure the showpiece event finishes on a high,” a BCCI source said according to NDTV.

An early exit for team India

Though the World Cup is being played in the UAE, India were designated hosts. Virat Kohli and his men entered the tournament as one of the favourites but couldn’t live up to the expectations and crashed out in the Super 12 stage itself. They lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in their first couple of games which hurt their chances to a large extent.

The team though did well to register big wins over Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia bur their fate wasn’t in their hands. They needed Afghanistan to win against New Zealand and that didn’t happen which knocked India out of the tournament.
