The Virat Kohli-led RCB crashed out of the IPL 2020 after their heart-breaking loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team was looking in great form when they flagged off their journey in this season, but their dream of bringing in the maiden IPL trophy has shattered yet again. However, keeping aside the IPL stories, the next and the bigger journey awaits Men in Blue.
Team India is set to lock horns against Australia in three T20Is and as many ODIs later this month. They will also face each other in the four-match Test series. According to the reports, skipper Virat Kohli has stepped in the bio-secure bubble created by BCCI for the team set to take off for Australia.
“Kohli moved into the Team India bubble last night after the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is likely to take a day or two off and start preparing for the series in Australia,” said the source as quoted by The Times Now.
Virat Kohli to lead the Indian side in Australia
The 32-member jumbo squad is set to take off for Sydney on November 12. All the players will fly from Dubai in one go, and the players who were not part of IPL have also landed in UAE. Cheteshwar Pujara and Hanuma Vihari are the only two names that were not part of IPL, and they have reached UAE well in time. The IPL finals will be played on November 10, and after the successful completion, the team will mark its journey to Australia.
The series with Kangaroos is set to begin on November 27 but given the COVID-19 protocols, a mandatory quarantine period of 14 days will also be served by the players. For the mega series, Rohit Sharma’s fitness is still under the scanner. Though he appeared in Mumbai’s last match, the fact remains that he hasn’t been listed by the BCCI in any of the squads. It remains to be seen if Rohit will be added to the squad for the upcoming tour.
