Reports: Virat Kohli set to miss ODI series against South Africa
Virat Kohli has reportedly planned a holiday with his family in the month of January and is set to miss the ODI series for this reason.
Rohit Sharma will not take part in the upcoming three-match Test series against the South African side. The ‘Hitman’ has been ruled out of the three-match rubber after suffering an injury to his hamstring.
But then, another update had dropped in. And, this update reveals that Virat Kohli will not take part in the upcoming ODI series against the South African side. Kohli has reportedly planned a holiday with his family in the month of January, and this ODI series will coincide with the first birthday month of his child Vamika.
“Hi guys… will quickly share something. Last night when I tweeted I had heard something controversial but couldn’t share, it was because of the following reasons: 1) I heard Rohit won’t play Tests & Virat won’t play ODIs. You can imagine how shocked I was. Virat has planned a holiday with family, so he won’t play the ODIs. Remember, it’s his child’s 1st birthday month,” tweeted a Twitter handle by name KSR.

The Indian batting maestro is the 6th highest run-scorer in the ODI format of the game, and has plundered a staggering 12169 runs at an insane average of 59.07. Kohli is also the 2nd highest century-maker in ODI cricket and has amassed 43 tons.
Kohli has also scored 62 fifties in the ODI format of the game as well. The 33-year-old right-hander is also the fastest batter to breach the 10000-run mark in the ODI format and scored his 10000th ODI run in his 205th innings. Kohli last played an ODI match for India on 28th March 2021.
There were already rumours floating around that all is not well within the Indian camp. And now, Sharma will miss the Test series that will be played under Kohli’s captaincy, and Kohli is set to miss the ODI series that will be played under Rohit’s captaincy.
