Ponting who is regarded as one the greatest batsman of all time was himself a quality fielder. His ability to take stunning catches and execute impossible run-outs from anywhere in the ground separated him from the rest. He would single-handedly changed the course of the match in a matter of a few seconds through his gun fielding.

This question caught the eyes of many, as Ponting himself set high fielding standards throughout his legendary career. He picked his own teammate whom he captained for many years Andrew Symonds, and two South African Ab de Villiers and Jonty Rhodes as the top three fielders of all time.
Symonds was dynamic inside the 30 yards circle as well as the boundary line. Jonty Rhodes was probably the best fielder of all time as the backward point fielding position was known as ‘Jonty’s corner’. Speaking about AB de Villiers, the South African could do anything on the cricket field and his talent to take unreal catches made him earn fans all around the world.
Ricky Ponting is the leading run scorer for Australia in both Test matches and ODIs. His tally of 27,483 runs in international cricket is the third highest after Sachin Tendulkar who scored 34,357 runs and Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara with 28,016.
