Rishabh Pant does something naughty to Rohit Sharma after DC lose to MI
After DC's defeat to MI, Pant was still not done and almost took the opposition captain down.
Ambati Rayudu might be disappointed to have missed a berth in India’s World Cup squad and posted a sarcastic tweet to vent it out but the young Rishabh Pant seems to be not much touched with his own omission. On Thursday, after Mumbai Indians (MI) avenged their first-match loss to Delhi Capitals (DC) by humbling them at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), Pant did something mischievous to MI captain Rohit Sharma.
As Rohit was handshaking with the line-up of DC players after the game, Pant had something naughty in his mind. Wearing a short pant, the wicketkeeper-batsman shook hands with Rohit but also extended one of his legs that made the MI skipper almost tumble.
Rohit did not say anything as was a light moment that the two national players shared but the Twitter was not ready to spare the youngster. One Twitter user shared the video of the incident and said that Pant was trying to make Rohit trip over and if he kept doing such things in the IPL, someone will surely get injured and the Delhi keeper will make it to the World Cup squad.
Pant lost out to the experienced Dinesh Karthik in the race for a berth in the World Cup squad that will head to England next month. The selectors said it was the better keeping skills that saw the 33-year-old Karthik getting the nod ahead of Pant to be Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s deputy in the tournament. Pant, along with Rayudu and pacer Navdeep Saini, was kept as a standby player for the WC.
The keeper-batsman who had slammed a 27-ball 78 not out against the MI in the first match, hasn’t hit another fifty since then in this IPL and fell for just seven in the match on Thursday in which the DC lost by 40 runs. He was castled by Jasprit Bumrah, who he had taken on in the first game.
