Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant blazed his way to a blistering 50 in just 28 deliveries in the second innings of the second Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Bangalore. And, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has opened up on Pant’s style of play.
Bumrah stated that not every batter will play in the same manner. Adding that Pant is a cricketer who has always backed his strengths, Bumrah feels that the wicketkeeper batter is learning about the game. Bumrah also said that the Indian side will help Pant to move forward as well.
“You can’t teach everyone to play in the same manner. Pant has backed his strengths and that is the tempo he plays at. We understand that. But at the same time, he is learning a lot and getting more experience. As a team, we will also continue to help him go forward,” said Jasprit Bumrah as quoted by Times of India.
To be able to contribute to the team is a great thing: Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah also scalped a five-wicket haul in the 2nd Test to rattle the Sri Lankan batting lineup and admitted that he feels good about it. The right-arm pacer added that it is not an easy task for a cricketer to play all three formats of the game on a regular basis, and stated that he sometimes has also missed playing in home Test matches. The 28-year-old also said that he feels great about contributing to the team.
“It feels good. I play three formats and it is not easy to play all games and sometimes I have missed out on home Tests. But to be able to contribute towards the team is a great thing for all,” concluded Jasprit Bumrah.
Sri Lanka have been set a target of 447 for victory and they ended the second day with their scorecard reading 28/1. India are currently leading the two-match Test series 1-0.
