India is fully prepared to kick off their Test Championship home season, the whole squad is ready to take on Proteas but there has been a problem over who will keep for India in the Test series. Rishabh Pant has been given ample of chances in limited-overs and his form with the bat has been a major headache for Team India whereas Wriddhiman Saha is returning back after recovering from his injury and his keeping skills will always have an upper edge over Pant’s. Saha also performed well in recent times for India ‘A’ against South Africa ‘A’.

The first match of the series will kick off from 2nd October 2019 in Vishakhapatnam. Both the keepers are totally different from each other if Pant is a destructive batsman then, on the other hand, Saha is very calm who has played decently well in the past for India in the longest format. Various former cricketers have come down with different opinions over the most debated spot in Team India but Ravi Shastri is very clear about his opinion.

Ravi Shastri opinion over Rishabh Pant

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Ravi Shastri looked quite positive over the situation of Rishabh Pant who has been looked as a long term replacement and Shastri has taken the matter of Pant in his hands, “If someone goofs up, I have to pull them up. Am I there only to play tabla? But this guy is world-class, this guy can be destructive, can be a destroyer. And we will give him all the support that he needs to prosper in international cricket, Pant is different, he is world-class and is a brutal match-winner. Very few around in the world game; I can’t pick five on my hands when it comes to white-ball cricket, T20 cricket. So the patience we will have with him is a lot.”

He also added that Pant is a special talent and will get a proper backing from the Team management, “All your media reports and all the experts writing (but) Pant is in great space with this Indian team. Experts, they have a job, they can speak. Pant is a special kid and he has already done enough. And he is only going to learn. This team management will back him to the hilt.” Shastri added.

Although this will be an important thing to watch over who will hold the position of a wicketkeeper in the Test series against South Africa.
