The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League is on, and coaches and experts are making several comments on the team situations. In the same light, the current head coach of Delhi Capitals and one of the most legendary cricketers, Ricky Ponting, made comments on Delhi’s playing combination regarding youngster Rishabh Pant and Ajinkya Rahane. Delhi is all set to open its journey in the second match of IPL 2020 against Kings XI Punjab.

Though Shreyas Iyer led Delhi is looking strong enough to make a mark, it will be a thing to watch how they steal the glory. Ponting also made comments on the recent burning topic among his squad– ‘Mankading’. When the batsman was asked about the shape and nature of the team, he said we are in a good position.

“Rishabh Pant knows about his responsibilities but at the same time, he isn’t a person you would want to push too hard. I am very hard on him when it comes to the way he goes about his batting and preparations.

He is the sort of guy you can’t train much he will perform when the situation comes around. We have added some players like Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, and Alex Carey as overseas batsmen,” Ponting told InsideSport’s show “Amstrad Face 2 Face Cricket Series.”

I am really happy with the squad: Ricky Ponting

The head coach also stated that Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are some of their starts whom they are considering as weapons. They have also made significant addition in the team like R Ashwin, and good performance is definitely expected out of them.

“Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are, to be honest, our weapons, and Nortje has been incredibly impressive since he has been here, and we have added R Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane, two very experienced Indian players. I am really happy with the squad,” he added.

The Australian is of the fact that every team can vouch that they have the best, but the only crucial situation will be able to tell who will steal the limelight. The season opener of the IPL 2020 is seeing its two heavyweights Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians fighting for their reputation.
