Rishabh Pant knows the importance of living every moment

After a couple of comprehensive defeats at Edgbaston and Lord’s, India were compelled to make alterations in their lineup in a bid to turn their wretched fortunes around. The wicketkeeper’s position was a major concern as Dinesh Karthik strained, both with the bat and keeping gloves. Hence, the management decided to rope in 20-year old Delhi-born Rishabh Pant.

He came to bat when Adil Rashid nipped put Virat Kohli for 97 runs, but showed no signs of nervousness whatsoever. He played an attacking stroke in the first ball for no run. However. in the very next delivery, he danced down the track to hit the leg-break bowler downtown for a titanic six. Thereafter, the youngster buckled down to stave off the might of the English attack.

Pant’s impressive outing on debut

He eventually scored 24 runs from 51 balls and perished to Stuart Broad, who tried to ruffle his feathers with some nasty words. In England’s first innings, he picked up as many as five catches and telecasted his stupendous potential as a keeper. Pant couldn’t quite counter the venom spat by fast-bowler James Anderson and could score only one run in six deliveries.

He was again impressive with the gloves during England’s run chase. Nevertheless, Pant would more or less be satisfied with how he performed in his maiden appearance in Whites. Following India’s 203-run victory at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, he posted a video on Instagram where he was seen getting his Test cap from Indian captain Virat Kohli.

He captioned the clip and wrote, “We don’t remember days. We remember the moment and this is one of that . I always wanted to play test cricket for my country. All thanks to my family , coach and people who supported me to make it happen amazing feeling loved it,”
