Rishabh Pant will probably hold the key for Delhi Capitals: Parthiv Patel
Rishabh displayed a terrific form for India in the recently concluded England series.
India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been in sublime form in international cricket. Pant performed exceptionally well in the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia and helped India win the marquee series by 2-1. The keeper carried his brilliant form in the England tour of India too as he ended up as the third-highest run-getter after Joe Root and Rohit Sharma.
The young rookie was applauded by who’s who of the cricket fraternity for his growth both as a wicketkeeper and a batsman. The red-hot form in the purest format saw Pant making a comeback in India’s squad for the ODI and T20I side. While the 23-year-old was at his fluent best in the T20Is, he made heads turn with his power-hitting in One Day Internationals.
Rishabh featured in just two ODIs of the three-match series and ended up with 155 runs at an average of 77.50 including two sublime knocks off 77 and 78 runs. Seeing the way Pant has batted for India, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel believes that he will prove to be an x-factor for his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals and can help them win their maiden title.
Rishabh Pant can be better than MS Dhoni reckons Parthiv Patel
Patel believes that Rishabh can be better than MS Dhoni if plays his natural game as he is a brilliant player and plays with a lot of confidence. This time, the Delhi Stalwart will have an additional responsibility of leading his franchise as their captain Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out after suffering a shoulder injury.
“I think Rishabh Pant. Because if he wasn’t in his best of form last season, this year the way he has batted for India, I think he carries a lot of confidence with him and that’s what you want when you are playing a T20 game. You don’t want any doubts in your mind and especially a player like Rishabh Pant.
“He was burdened with the comparison of MS Dhoni and he also tried to do that, but he himself is a brilliant player. He doesn’t have to worry about being like MS Dhoni. He can be better than MS Dhoni or he can win matches on his own every given time. So, I think Rishabh Pant will be probably held the key for Delhi Capitals,” Parthiv said while speaking on Star Sports’ show GAME PLAN
