Rising Pune Supergiants trolls Kings XI Punjab in twitter banter
Twitter trolling has been a major part of the cricketing arena for the past few years. Some of the cricketers, especially the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and David Lloyd, who are quite active on twitter have used trolls, more often than not to red-faced fans on twitter. From time to time, this tactic employed by the cricketers has been a breath of fresh air.
However, in the context of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), that has seldom happened. With the travel schedule for the two months of IPL cricket taking it’s toll on the players, the trolling between players and their fans has somewhat ceased a bit. However, the trolling between IPL franchises has gone to a whole new level, especially following the banter between the twitter accounts of the Rising Pune Supergiants and the Kings XI Punjab.
The Rising Pune Supergiants conceded all chances of making it to the playoffs of the current edition of the IPL following their narrow 5-run defeat at the hands of the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Vizag. Despite the heroic performance put up by the amazing Adam Zampa, who subsequently went on to take six wickets, MS Dhoni’s men fell to yet another defeat, something that was somewhat alien to him as well.
In the events that followed, the Kings XI Punjab released a meme on their official twitter account showing sympathy to the vanquished Supergiants. While many would think that the latter would take it on the chin and return a chivalrous reply, the tweet that followed shocked the fans quite a bit.
The social media team decided to have some fun by inverting the IPL standings table, showing the Kings XI Punjab at the top spot. The caption read “There there…. We fixed it for you.” While the dark humor and subtlety in the tweet stole the show, most of the fans got the message with a series of hilarious tweets to follow.
Well, at the moment, it seems as though the Rising Pune Supergiants have indeed begun some sort of a trolling revolution on twitter.
